Abstract

Surface segregation of PtNi alloys has been studied with the help of an Anderson-Hubbard Hamiltonian and a mixed Bethe lattice formalism. Results for the surface segregation at the (111) surface of the alloy are presented. It is found that the Pt atoms segregate to the surface and that the magnetic moments of Ni atoms are reduced at the surface of the alloy.
