Abstract

Migration and surface segregation of linear aliphatic carboxylic acids in styrene-butadiene rubber matrix have been studied together with an effect of the top layer formed on friction of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) vulcanisates. The relationship between migration rate of carboxylic acids and bloom thickness as well as its topography and morphology is discussed. The influence of bloom geometry and micromechanical properties of the elastomer on its tribological properties is presented.
