Abstract
SERS was observed from adsorbed cationic cyanine and neutral merocyanine dyes, whereas the tested oxonol dye did not show any adsorption on the silver colloids. A comparison between Raman scattering of the first three representatives of the homologous series of one dye and Raman experiments performed on the same dyes in solution confirms the existence of SERS.
