Abstract

The present paper gives the results of four researches developed in the “Laboratoire Central des Industries Electriques” by the Department of Electrical Engineering of the “Faculté des Sciences de Paris.” The first research, more fundamental, concerns the study of the Hall effect in a rotating electric field. The others have led to realize three rotating devices without sliding contacts: A variable speed single phase induction motor possessing, thanks to a Hall effect φ pole, a starting torque with a controlled sense of rotation. A Hall effect position detector, the output signal of which is independent of variations of the Hall “constant.” A direct current motor, using at once for commutator and for rotor position detector a magneto-resistant semiconductor system.
