Abstract
A recent UN High Commissioner For Refugees report found that 8000 people have been settled in the UK under the voluntary persons resettlement scheme and that it is working ‘relatively well’. Under the scheme, Walsall accommodated eight families from Syria with the support of Walsall local authority and Refugee Migrant Centre. This provides a seamless, comprehensive approach that covers many issues related to the settlement and integration of new and emerging communities. It has contributed to an improvement in the quality of life of asylum seekers, refugees and migrants living in this area.
