Superior labrum anterior posterior (SLAP) lesions are a common occurrence in today’s active society. These lesions can result in significant pain and dysfunction around the shoulder. Since they were first described more than 20 years ago, there have been many different treatment options described, depending on the type of SLAP tear encountered. This article will review the anatomy, classification, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation after surgical treatment for SLAP lesions. The article will also review the authors’ preferred surgical technique for addressing SLAP tears in overhead-throwing athletes.
