Abstract

Neutron and proton components of matter in neutron stars become superfluid and superconducting respectively, by forming Cooper pairs. In this contribution, we provide a concise overview of the current state and open questions in the area of superfluidity and superconductivity in neutron stars, including the microscopic quantum many-body theories and their methods, physics at the meso-scale associated with the quantum vorticity and, finally, the effects of superfluidity on the macroscopic manifestations in neutron stars.
