Abstract

The depression of the transition temperature of thin films of Sn by thin films of Ag and Co has been measured. Specimens were prepared in a vacuum by evaporating films of Sn onto a glass slide and then evaporating Ag or Co films onto the Sn. The transition temperatures were determined by measuring the resistance when cooled. The theoretical explanation of the data is discussed for both nonmagnetic and ferromagnetic metals. (H.D.R.)
