Abstract

This paper describes the recent development of a high temperature superconducting (HTS) microstrip bandpass filter on r-plane sapphire substrate. The filter was design to have a quasi-elliptic function response for a passband from 1710 to 1785 MHz, which covers the whole receive band of DCS1800 base station. The utilisation of cross meander open-loop resonators allows a very small and compact filter configuration to be realised. The filter was fabricated using YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/ (YBCO) thin film HTS material on a sapphire substrate that is only 0.33/spl times/39/spl times/22.5 mm. Excellent performance of the filter has been obtained.
