Abstract

The superconductivity and crystal structure of new transition metal arsenide compounds MM'As, where M = Zr or Hf and M' = Ru or Os, are reported. The ZrRuSi-type hexagonal structure of these compounds is metastable at low temperatures. The superconducting transition temperature of 12 K for ZrRuAs is very high for an arsenide compound, and this is the first system of true ternary transition metal arsenides to exhibit super conductivity.
