Abstract

Graphene-polymer nanocomposites are innovative materials that have attracted much attention due to their novel features. Herein, we report photocatalytic and antibacterial properties of GNP-PPy nanocomposites. The formation of nanocomposites was confirmed by various characterization techniques. The assembly of GNPs and PPy NPs with optimized GNP content amazingly increased the photocatalytic degradation of bromophenol blue (BPB) up to 93% under solar light irradiation in 120 min. The antibacterial assay revealed that 50% GNPs-PPy nanocomposite showed a best (32.43%) inhibition of growth against a Gram negative bacteria E. coli. The GNP-PPy nanocomposites can possibly be utilized as multifunctional material for wastewater treatment and as antimicrobial agent.
