Abstract

A special summer program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Formulation and Solution of Problems in Water Resources Planning: Engineering Case Studies Illustrating New Techniques, will be held from August 31 through September 4, 1970. This special summer program will use the case study approach to explore the systematic formulation and solution of several real problems in water resources planning and management. The problems, concerning community water supply, flood control, water quality, regional water use, and project evaluation have been chosen for their illustration of decision‐making in the face of multiple objectives, many alternatives and chance. The program is designed to provide the project leader with an awareness of the power of new analytical methods in application to large‐scale water problems.
