Abstract

A Special Summer Program at MIT will be held June 25–June 29, 1973. This program will use the case study approach to explore the systematic formulation and solution of several real problems in water resources planning and management. The problems, concerning flood plain management, urban development, river basin planning, water quality issues, and project evaluation, have been chosen for their illustration of decision‐making in the face of multiple objectives, many alternatives, uncertainty, and the role of systems technology in their solution. The program is designed especially for practitioners at the project leader level who are concerned with the applicability of modern analytical methods and planning concepts to their water resource problems.
