Abstract

ABSTRACT This article summarizes the key ideas in my book, ‘What's the Point of Knowledge?’. First, I articulate the method of function first epistemology, which looks at our epistemology from a practical point of view. Second, I outline my core hypothesis about the purpose of the concept of knowledge, namely, we have this concept to identify reliable informants. Third, I explain how this account is used to resolve a number of epistemological issues. I also draw connections between pragmatism and my own theory of knowledge.
