Abstract
Due to superior acidity, sulfated oxides have been extensively investigated as potential alternatives to traditional mineral acids for catalytic purposes. The parameters applied during sulfated oxide production significantly influence the resultant material׳s acidity. Various authors have proposed different models to elucidate the interaction between the sulfate group and oxide materials, based on experimental findings and characterization techniques. This chapter delves into preparation techniques, models of sulfated oxides for ZrO2, TiO2, SnO2, CeO2, and Fe2O3, factors influencing acidity, characterization approaches, and their significant catalytic uses.
