Abstract

The application to micromasers of a recently proposed generalized master equation, which takes into account the statistics of the pumping mechanism, may lead to incorrect results for non-Poissonian pumping, due to the violation of hypotheses regarding coarse graining and the independent action of gain and dissipation.
