Abstract
This paper suggests the photovoltaic (PV) system performance assessment method using meteorological monitoring system and the performance evaluation model. In the proposed method, the meteorological monitoring system is the key element in order to quantify the input energy precisely. We classified the total PV system loss by optical loss, array loss, and system loss. To verify the proposed performance evaluation analysis method, two methods were carried out. First, based on the location where the meteorological monitoring system was installed, 10 PV system demonstration sites within a radius of 8 km were visited to obtain monitoring data and to perform correlation and performance evaluation of power generation according to distance. Second, we visited 14 demonstration sites for the PV system and conducted a performance evaluation through on-site assessment.
