Abstract
Purpose: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by articular cartilage degeneration, synovitis, and subchondral bone changes and early intervention are emphasized because of irreversible joint deformation. Various factors are involved in OA progression, especially abnormal mechanical stress by joint instability recognized as one of the most exacerbating factors causes OA. So far, a lot of studies that use animal model to elucidate OA onset have been reported and the most common PTOA model used in these studies is anterior cruciate ligament-transection (ACL-T) model.
