Abstract
SummaryThe effects of tritium-emitted beta-radiations have been tested on the succinic dehydrogenase and succinic thiokinase of Rhodotorula gracilis treated with tritiated water in the presence of different concentrations of cystamine. In our experimental conditions, 0·65 × 10−2 M cystamine is able to counteract the alterations of succinic dehydrogenase and succinic thiokinase, while 0·65 × 10−4 M cystamine seems to protect only the succinic thiokinase. The recorded variations are related to the metabolic activity of cystamine.
