Abstract

Measuring the flow of paint and varnish entails unique problems. Not only is the material expensive, making it essential to avoid waste, but the high-viscosity and highly pigmented raw media can impede flow. BASF Coatings in Germany found that a straight tube flowmeter manufactured by Krohne gave the best results and avoided pressure loss. Christoph Engelbert, plant and electrical engineering at BASF Coatings AG and Reiner Scheulen from Krohne Messtechnik GmbH & Co. KG, Duisburg describe the process.
