Abstract

A 20×12 substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) slotted antenna array is introduced that has amplitude weighting in both the horizontal and vertical dimensions and is equipped to make angle measurements in both azimuth and elevation directions. A SIW monopulse feed structure is embedded within the combiner substrate and feeds the four SIW antenna quadrants from the backside of the array. Amplitude weighting is achieved in the azimuth direction by varying the radiating slot offset from the centerline, while the elevation amplitude weighting is achieved through a series of SIW sidewall couplers integrated into the antenna face. The resulting design and measured results demonstrate a low profile, low-loss, passive antenna array capable of accurate angle measurement in target tracking applications.
