Abstract
Starting with an exchange of letters between Bill Wilson and Carl Jung, this essay sketches the idea of misguided spirituality as a component of alcoholism and healthy spirituality as an element of recovery, and suggests that study of, or at least some exposure to, great poetry be incorporated in recovery programs in an effort to more holistically treat the alcoholic in returning her or him to optimum possible health.
