Abstract
This article covers a highly specialised area of marine pumps. Although there are not large numbers of these pumps around the world, they make an important contribution to the carriage of difficult fluids by sea. Liquefied gases are normally characterised by high vapour pressures. Hence to maximise the quantity carried, containment systems are designed to carry the fluid in bulk as refrigerated liquid.
