Abstract

The author measured the thickness of the subcutaneous fat tissue at 12 sites of the body in Japanese-American hybrid boys who brought up under same conditions. Values obtained are analysed by the intermediate method between the longitudinal and cross-sectional methods. Results are following:1. In spite of hybrid, notable racial differences are found at the calf and thigh. As a whole, Japanese-white hybrids are thicker than Japanese-negro ones in fat tissue on the face and lower limbs, but there is no difference on the trunkand upper limbs.2. With age, fat tissue increases at the sites of the trunk, and it decreases at the sites of the face and limbs.3. The seasonal differences in the thickness of subcutaneous fat tissue are observed at some sites. On the whole, fat in March is thicker in September at sites of the face and limbs, especially typical at the cheek, but it is the resverse at sites of the trunk.
