Abstract
Geological Survey of India after due consideration and planning, a National Project of Geophysical Mapping has been envisaged in the early part of last decade which is being carried out with uniform survey parameters and a plan to cover the entire country. This National program is carried out as a natural sequel to Regional Gravity Map of India, a collaborative project of Geological Survey of India (GSI), National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), and other earth science organizations. National Geophysical Mapping (NGPM) is envisaged with major thrust on mineral exploration. Geological Survey of India is actively collecting the baseline geoscientific data under the project. It has brought out the duly modified manual on Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in the year 2014. This document is available on the website of GSI (www.gsi.gov.in). It has exhaustively covered various aspects like planning, survey design, data reduction procedures, data processing, and interpretational methodology. It was also desired that this document would be updated periodically after deliberations.
