Abstract

Here we propose a spintronic based accelerometer that exploits the coupling of mechanical with spintronic components to develop a compact sub micro-accelerometer in which the external acceleration is obtained via measurement of the voltage variation in a spin torque diode. The solution is based on three spintronic devices, two spin torque diodes and a spin torque nano oscillator, that enables a robust and reliable sensing and read-out mechanisms thanks to voltage differential measurements. The results confirm the potential of mechanical-spintronic accelerometers to become an alternative to current state of the art technology.
