Abstract

Meiotic cells from Haworthia attenuata anthers were analysed for chromosomal abnormalities. Some of the A-I cells were characterized by the presence of bridges with side arms. Usually these were free of fragments. Other A-I cells had fragments without bridges. Bridges and/or fragments were observed at A-II but never both of these on the same spindle. The origin of these aberrations is attributed to sub-chromatid aberrations and their relationship to overall chromosome structure is discussed.
