Abstract

Recognizing that the fields of pervasive computing and smart spaces are still evolving, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has adopted a unique approach to teaching these and related concepts in its graduate-level course, "ECEN 725: Pervasive Computing Systems." The teaching approach attempts to formalize the study and development of pervasive computing by leveraging knowledge of formal methods and tools from other, more mature computer engineering fields. Specifically, the course is taught in the context of an analogy drawn between the fields of embedded computing and pervasive computing. This department is part of a special issue on smart spaces.
