Abstract
Abstract In recent years, the unqualified material of high-steel pipe has attracted attention. Unqualified mechanical properties of pipe base metal and girth weld material will bring great hidden dangers to its safe operation. The tensile test can obtain the yield strength and tensile strength of the material, but it cannot be directly applied to the in-service pipeline. In this paper, the indentation method, indoor tensile test, and other technologies are used to test the strength of X80 steel pipe girth weld and base material. Through comparative analysis, it is found that the error rate of yield strength measurement of in-service X80 pipe based on the indentation method is less than 15%. Within the allowable error range of engineering, this method can guide pipeline operators to check unqualified materials online.
