Abstract

In this paper, conventional Magnetic Gear (MG), which has Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet rotor Magnetic Gear (SPMMG), and Consequent pole Permanent Magnet rotor Magnetic Gear (CPMMG), which has high torque density, is analyzed. For analysis, various pole pieces shape considering flux density distribution and leakage flux in pole piece core are studied. Moreover proposed design variables are adopted to analyze torque characteristics which are average torque and torque ripple. In addition, two types of MG are analyzed considering torque density according to MG volume and magnet usage. Analysis on SPMMG and CPMMG is verified by 2D Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
