Abstract

The demand of high bulk paper products for packaging are increasing due to the delivery service spread and the eco-friend packaging trend. There are some propensities of paper products which should be overcome to increase the reliability of paper packaging. The fold crushing resistance could be one of the major properties of the paper packaging products. In this study, the conditions of the stock such as the mixing ratio of raw materials, the beating degrees of pulp fibers and the application of additives were controlled to evaluate the stock conditions on the fold crushing resistance. By adjusting the ratio of pulp fiber blending and the beating treatment, it was demonstrated in the experiment that both the mechanical properties and folding resistance of packaging paper could be enhanced. The addition of the additives such as PCC and cationic starch led to the increase of the folding resistance. Through both independent and comprehensive impact assessments of the stock conditions, it was determined that the ideal stock conditions for enhancing fold resistance properties could be attained.
