Abstract
AbstractThe perforation of concrete‐like material targets against impact by nondeforming projectiles is always the research focus in engineering protective domain. In the present paper, a new punching plug model is proposed based on the similar features with punching shear in concrete slabs, utilizing the failure criterion of modified Mohr‐Coulomb. Semi‐empirical equations corresponding to ballistic limit, residual velocity, punching plug thickness are derived, where residual velocity is renewedly identified considering the effect of punching plug resistance. Eventually, the proposed punching plug model is validated and discussed by comparisons with perforation experiments.
