Abstract

Abstract Thick film sensor had been fabricated by screen-printing technique on cleaned, optically plane glass plate using fine more porous Al2O3 substrate. XRD pattern manifested small crystalline size of S3 (70% SnO2 + 30 % ZnO) material. SEM study showed more porosity of S3 sensor. With increasing concentration of CO2 gas, resistance of the said sensor with rooftop PPy layer decreases at room temperature and it led to increase of sensitivity due to surface oxygen vacancies of ZnO and SnO2 acting as donors. It was manifested that the sensor having PPy as rooftop layer on 70SnO2:30ZnO composition had highest sensitivity i.e. 0.785 at 60 ppm among the prepared sensors.
