Abstract

Objective To investigate the status of the sense of career success on job burnout of clinical nurses and analyze the relationship between the two, in order to provide basis for nursing human resource management. Methods The career success scale and the nurse burnout scale were used to conduct a questionnaire survey on 200 clinical nurses in the hospital from March to April 2018. Results Clinical nurses' emotional exhaustion was(26.35±5.21) points, deindividuation was (9.27±2.34) points and low personal achievement was (28.68±6.16) points.Total points for career success for nurses was (32.82±9.15). Correlation analysis showed that there was a correlation between career success and job burnout(P<0.01). After controlling for the influence of general data, career success independently accounted for 26.4% of the total variation in emotional exhaustion, 27.6% of the total variation in deindividuation, and 38.7% of the total variation in low personal achievement. Conclusions Clinical nurses have a lower sense of career success and serious job burnout. Job success is a predictor of job burnout. Key words: Clinical nurses; Sense of career success; Job burnout
