Abstract

An approach for simultaneous radar target imaging and velocity measurement with step frequency waveforms is presented in this paper. Step Frequency waveform has been widely used in the wideband radar for high resolution imaging. Motion compensation is necessary to obtain the good High Resolution Range Profile (HRRP) since this kind of waveform is greatly sensitive to the Doppler shift. Velocity measurement performances of four styles with two pulse trains consisted of positive and negative step frequency waveforms are analyzed in this paper. The target velocity can be estimated first by using the positive-positive step frequency combination trains coarsely and then fined by positive-negative combination trains. Simulations results indicate that the method can obtain good HRRP while accomplish accurate estimation of the velocity with efficient computation and good anti-noise performance.
