Abstract

Pollution of wastewater by chlorophenols (CPs) is a serious problem in China. Actually, the removal of chlorophenols from wastewater is a challenge to the related industries, because the synthetic chlorophenols (CPs) used are stable compounds, difficult to destroy by common treatments. Therefore, the study on degradation of chlorophenols is of great significance. Chlorophenols has a variety of compounds. In this paper, several typical chlorophenols in the environment, including 4-CP-Na, 2,4-DCP-Na and PCP-Na, have been selected as the index objects. In order to select a proper carrier, a series of materials, such as chelating resin, 4A molecular sieve, Y molecular sieve and activated alumina have been examined as carriers of Fe2+ or Fe3+. Correspondingly, the Fe(II)-chelating resin, Fe(II)-4A-type molecular sieve, Fe(II)-Y-molecular sieve, Fe(II)-Al 2 O 3 and Fe(III)-Y-molecular sieve were obtained by impregnating method. Moreover, the degradation reactions of chlorophenols (CPs) were evaluated on the basis of variation of heterogeneous Fenton system. The results showed that the Fe(II)-Y-molecular sieve had a minimum adsorption capacity of PCP-Na, but it exhibited a good catalytic activity in the oxidation of sodium chlorophenols. Also, the oxidation activities of sodium chlorophenols of Fe(II)-Y-molecular sieve had no significant decrease after simple recycling treatment.
