Abstract

A method for the detection of the bubbly wake of targets in water is presented, which is based on the features of optical frequency domain of the scattering optical signal. A simulation on the optical frequency domain characteristics of the bubbly wake scattering signal is performed by statistical test method. The influence of the bubble population and the velocity distribution on the optical frequency domain characteristics is analyzed. On this basis, a test platform for the characteristics of optical frequency domain of the bubbly wake scattering signal is designed and established. The characteristics of the bubbly wake scattering signal are studied experimentally. Experimental results agree with the theoretical analysis. The results show that the amplitude and the cut-off frequency of the shift spectra will increase with the increasing bubble population and range of velocity distribution. It indicates the effectiveness of the detection method.
