Abstract
Polymer matrix composites with excellent electric field dependent nonlinear conductivity are widely used in cable accessory insulation materials. The addition of Zinc oxide (ZnO) can impart nonlinear conductivity to the Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) materials, which is used to improve the electric field distribution in the cable accessory. In this paper, Zinc oxide nanosheets (ZnO NS) were synthesized by using chemical coprecipitation method. and filled into the EPDM Compared with the traditional Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs)/EPDM composite, it exhibits more outstanding nonlinear properties at a low filler content, which owe to the structure of nanosheets. Futhermore, the conductivity and breakdown strength of ZnO NS/EPDM composites with several filler content were investigated systematically. The relationships between filler concent and nonlinear conductivity characteristics were initially explored. When the volume fraction is 6.8 vol%, the nonlinear coefficient □□of ZnO NS/EPDM composite is 2.96, which is 1.7 times larger than the case of 4.1 vol.%.
