Abstract

Considering the important role of 500kV transmission lines in power transmission, the transient characteristics of lightning overvoltage of transmission lines based on multiple lightning strikes are studied. The equivalent circuit model of lightning overvoltage for 500kV transmission line is calculated and modeled based on ATP-EMTP. The influence of multiple lightning strikes on the overvoltage of line counterstrike and bypass under different grounding modes of OPGW lines of transmission line is studied. The simulation results verify the accuracy of the established circuit model. The results of the study provide theoretical basis for the protection of 500kV lines against multiple lightning strikes.
