Abstract

This article studies the cause and effect relationships home caregivers experience in the process of caring for family members with Alzheimer's and memory impairment. This study is unique in that it distinguishes between actual and conceptual stress experienced by the caregivers. The purpose of this study is to find out what type of assistance will be needed in the process of caregiving depending on the nature of stress experienced. One hundred forty-eight home caregivers in the greater Cincinnati tri-state area were studied by questionnaires.
