Abstract

Objective To investigate the distribution of Foxp3-924(rs2232365)genes in a Guangdong population and to explore the association of these genes with allergic conjunctivitis.Methods A total of 103 unrelated healthy individuals of Han nationality and 80 patients with allergic conjunctivitis who were from the same geographic region were enrolled in the study.Foxp3-924(rs2232365) was genotyped by PCR-SSP technique.Results There was no significant difference of Foxp3-924 AA genotype frequencies between the patients with allergic conjunctivitis and the normal control group(32.5% vs.23.3%,x2=1.92,P >0.05).The frequencies of GA genotype in the patients with allergic conjunctivitis were significantly higher than the normal control group(x2=4.82,P <0.05).And the frequencies of GG genotype in the patients with allergic conjunctivitis were significantly lower than the normal control group(x2=11.78,P <0.01).Compared to the normal control group,the frequencies of Foxp3-924 A allele were significantly increased while the G allele was reduced significantly(x2=9.77,P <0.01).Conclusions Foxp3-924(rs2232365)is associated with allergic conjunctivitis.
