Abstract

In this paper, the high frequency link matrix converter is used to drive the brushless DC motor. In view of the bidirectional characteristics of the matrix converter, the method of decoupling modulation is adopted and different PWM modulation mode is applied to the motor control. Taking the PWM_ON modulation method as an example, the operating modes and the torque ripple in the high frequency switching period are analyzed in detail. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the PWM modulation method is also applicable for brushless DC motor in high frequency link matrix converter. The experimental results prove the correctness of the analysis.
