Abstract

Torque ripple is an important factor affecting the commutation performance of brushless DC motors. The four PWM modulation methods of the brushless DC motor control system are summarized, and the influence of the four different PWM modulation methods on the commutation torque ripple of the brushless DC motor is analyzed in detail, and the torque ripple in the commutation interval is calculated. The four modulation methods are compared to find the optimal PWM modulation method with low commutation torque ripple. According to calculations, the use of PWM_ON modulation makes the brushless DC motor have smaller commutation torque ripple. Experiments were carried out with a 70W brushless DC motor as the control object, and the terminal voltage waveform diagram and phase current waveform diagram under four PWM modulation modes were measured, and the results showed that the PWM_ON modulation mode was the best. The experimental results prove the correctness of the theoretical analysis.
