Abstract

According to the difficulty in survey implementation due to operation disturbing factors in the traditional survey of existing railway, which collects only contact-type single-point data, taking the center line as the base control line, a 3-dimension (3D) laser scanning survey method is presented. With this method, point cloud data are collected for an existing railway section of 1500m in length by using Surphaser25HXS-a ground 3D laser scanner. The point data are then pre-processed, compared, matched and surface modeled with Geomagic and Cyclone-two post-processing softwares. Precision analysis is performed for the experimental data through extracting real-time track center line and comparison with original aerial photography. The results suggest that with proper survey target and station distributed, the 3D laser scanning can meet the requirements of the survey of existing railway, improve the efficiency of collecting original data, ensure data quality, simplify the data processing, provide more information and be safer.
