Abstract

A dynamic equivalence and modeling approach is studied for building Meng-xi regional power grid simulation platform on RTDS. An equivalent scheme retaining large generators connected into 500 KV substation, displacing models of wind generators and control systems, porting dynamic equivalent models from BPA to RTDS by replacing models on RTDS or building models based on BPA transfer functions is proposed. Through the comparison of the results of power flow and transient simulation in BPA original power grid, BPA and RTDS equivalent power grid, it is proved that the proposed dynamic equivalence model is reasonable. Finally, by summarizing and analyzing factors effected simulation result of this power grid with the power grid characteristics and simulation tools, useful experience for equivalence and modeling of regional power grid is provided.
