Abstract
Corona discharge in a two-phase mixture (gas and solid particles) is a common discharge mode, which we can find in electrostatic precipitator or transmission lines in dust. In this article, a basic device was designed to investigate how the electrostatic precipitator works. The device is composed of particle source, discharging cavity and measuring part. Needle-plate was set up in cavity to achieve two-phase mixture discharges. Current, voltage, concentration and efficiency were measured and analyzed. To study the basic law of DC corona discharge in two-phase flow, sufficient experiments were carried out with different sizes and kinds of particles. Corona discharge and collection efficiency in various experiment conditions were compared and discussed. Then we simulate the particle trajectory and electric field change to study the mechanism of corona discharge in a two- phase mixture.
