Abstract

Abstract-Aim: To study the antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of the extracts from Chinese traditional medicine-Agrimonia Pilosa Ledeb. Method: The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) value of acetone extracts and methanol extracts from Agrimonia Pilosa Ledeb against bacteria , yeasts and fungi were tested by solid agar dilution method, for their antioxidant activity using scavenging activity of DPPH (1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl)radical method. Result: this study showed that acetone extract from Agrimonia Pilosa Ledeb was found to possess better antimicrobial activities compared with methanol extract. The acetone extract includes many tannin components is possible reason. In the DPPH system, the antioxidant activity of the acetone extracts was superior to that of the methanol extracts, IC50 values were 48.41 and 55.69 μg/mL, respectively. Such results might be attributed to the synergistic effects of the components .
