Abstract

The large specific surface area of activated carbon fiber (ACF) is the main reason for its excellent adsorption performance. In the production process of ACF the activation process is the key step which affect the ACF specific surface area, and the ACF specific surface area produced by different activation processes varies greatly. In this paper, a self-generated activation process was used for the secondary activation of the commercial viscose based activated carbon fiber. According to different activation factors, the specific surface area was used as the evaluation standard for the activation performance. The orthogonal test method was used to optimize the activation process, and the best process for the preparation of ACF with high specific surface area was finally obtained, which was of certain significance for the improvement of the adsorption performance of ACF.
