Abstract

In this present study the mechanical and thermal properties of E-glass fiber reinforced composites was investigated. Composites filled with varying wt. % of Graphene Oxide (GO) and Carboxylic Functionalized Graphene (CFG) was prepared by mechanical stirring technique followed by hand layup method. There are three composition of nano-composite prepared by varying the weight percentage of each nano-material with 0.4%, 0.6% and 0.8%. The mechanical properties such as flexural strength, tensile strength, impact strength, heat deflection and hardness of the prepared nano-composites were studied and compared on various nanofillers. The findings revealed that the incorporation of functionalized Graphene (CFG) composites can be an effective approach in-term of mechanical properties as compared to pure and GO composite. The experimental value shown that at 0.6 wt% of CFG the E-glass fabric reinforced composite shown better flexural strength, tensile strength, impact strength, heat deflection and hardness of 30%, 39%, 22%, 12% and 20% respectively. It was also observed that after optimal wt. % of nanofillers the mechanical properties are degraded by addition of nano-materials.
