Abstract

A calculation has been made of the mean MM and MMD of polymers formed in continuous processes of anionic polymerization in the absence of kinetic chain termination; the main differences of the characteristics of the polymers obtained in continuous and batch processes are defined. The influence of slow initiation and the reactions of chain transfer to solvent and polymer are analysed. The regime for obtaining a polymer with the highest number average MM on chain transfer to the solvent has been determined. For the case of chain transfer to the polymer unlike the batch process the possibility of gelation was found; the conditions for its suppression are discussed.
